Will Subaru BRZ Exceeds Expectations

When it was first unveiled for the public to see in the Tokyo Motor Show, the Subaru BRZ generated much excitement and anticipation from many knowledgeable sports car fans. This vehicle which is a product of both Toyota and Subaru was jointly developed along with Toyota FT86, a vehicle  expected to be the new flagship sports car model of this Japanese carmaker. The Subaru BRZ in fact will have touches of influence from previous Toyota models like 2000GT in terms of its muscled haunches and swoopy lines designs. This car which is expected to be available in the market by mid 2012 is primarily designed to deliver solid performance with accurate and comfortable control on the wheels for the driver.

The Subaru BRZ will be a rear wheel drive sports vehicle which is a departure from the traditional feature that defines the other lines of Subaru cars which are all wheel drives. Yet this is not expected to affect performance as early test trials for this vehicle showed very good results which exceeded expectations. It is also designed to be in more solid or firm contact with the road with its horizontally opposed engine which is positioned much lower inside the care if compared to other models. Other design features which are expected to be in this sports car are 2.0 liter four cylinder engine, manual or automatic rear-wheel drive 6 speed transmission, front struts and rear double wishbone suspension,  and vehicle dynamic control  and ABS.

In its partnership with Toyota in the development of this car, Subaru primarily undertook the design of the engine and chassis while Toyota is left in charge with its looks and style which is the reason why it resembles more the earlier Toyota sports car models. The interior design provides more visibility for the driver, enough leg space on the front seat but not so much on the back seat. Overall, the interior of this car is simple yet functional.
